The Cluster of Excellence "Data-Integrated Simulation Science" (EXC 2075) was established in 2019 in the framework of the German Excellence Strategy with an initial funding period of seven years. It builds on the previous EXC 310, which ran from 2007-2018 establishing the University of Stuttgart as a world leading research center for simulation technology. A Cluster of Excellence is the most significant and substantial grant for collaborative research funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). SimTech is the only Cluster with a research agenda of integrating simulation science and data science into a new paradigm bringing together interdisciplinary teams of researchers from seven faculties at the University, nearby academic institutions, and international research groups.
The Cluster of Excellence "Data-Integrated Simulation Science" (EXC 2075) and the Stuttgart Center for Simulation Science (SC SimTech) at the University of Stuttgart are seeking to hire a
Cluster Computing Systems Expert in the Field of Simulation Science
(m/f/d, full-time, salary group up to TV-L E14)
to start as soon as possible for a period of three years.
The position offers a diverse collaborative working environment in close cooperation with SimTech researchers at all career levels. In addition, it provides excellent opportunities to enhance the candidate's personal research profile with additional novel topics. 50 % of the position is intended to be dedicated to independent research, for which the candidate will be integrated in at least one of the topical SimTech Project Networks, guided by a senior mentor. The remaining 50 % are scheduled for operation, administration and extension of SimTech's 'Experimental Compute Cluster', which is currently in the procurement process. In particular, this will include maintaining and updating the software stack based on user requirements, assisting in extension procurement, and integrating new hardware.
The position does not entail teaching duties but we do expect the successful candidate to contribute to trainings and advisory activities for users of the Experimental Compute Platform.
